Over Three Decades of Service to Baker County.

The only Sheriff in the history of Baker County to work his way up through the ranks of BCSO. Sheriff Rhoden has served in every division of the Sheriff’s Office.

“It is truly an honor to serve as the Sheriff in Baker County. The people in this town are my friends and my family. I grew up here, went to school here, played Wildcat football, and graduated from Baker County High School in 1990. Soon after graduation, I was hired by the Baker County Sheriff’s Office on October 15, 1992. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was so full of pride and passion when I received the call that I was hired. That Thursday morning in 1992 began my 31 years of service to Baker County.”

- Sheriff Scotty Rhoden, 2023

Service, Accountability, & Respect

The three things that are most important to me as your Sheriff are service, accountability, and respect. Service comes from my heart. The Bible says in Galations 5:13, " You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.”

Accountability and respect go hand in hand. Being accountable to the people I serve means that I willingly accept responsibility for my actions. And by being accountable to the people of Baker County, I am showing you respect and in turn building respectful relationships with our community and my team at BCSO.

My Law Enforcement Family

For 31 years, I have worked to be a positive asset to the team of law enforcement officers at the Baker County Sheriff’s Office. It has been a privilege to work alongside some of the greatest men and women there is in law enforcement.

My co-workers at BCSO have made serving Baker County for over three decades a blessing. It is truly an honor that my brothers and sisters at BCSO stood behind me in 2016 and voted to entrust me with a leading role at our great Sheriff’s Office.

Since taking office as Sheriff, I have worked to create an environment that recognizes and rewards character, integrity, competence, and compassion. Our day-to-day operations at the Sheriff’s Office are respectful, meaningful, and supportive. If you ask any member of our law enforcement team, they will echo my sentiments that at BCSO we are more than coworkers, we are family.

This is My Community.

Each and every person in this county is important to me. The old families, the new families, and everyone in between. Whether you were born here or moved here, you joined a community that I have sworn to protect for over 31 years. I have given my entire life and career to service in our community because the people right here in my hometown mean everything to me. My family is honored to serve Baker County and we are ambitiously looking forward to continuing our service to our community.

“Scotty and I grew up together. Our daddy’s served together when his dad was Chief of Police in Macclenny and we have worked together at BCSO for over 23 years. Scotty is doing a great job. Join me in voting for OUR Sheriff, Scotty Rhoden.”

— Curtis Ruise, 32-year Veteran BCSO Deputy
